Private Cooking Classes
“The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking you've got to have a what-the-hell attitude.”
― Julia Child
Are you looking to improve your skills in the kitchen? We can help! Chef T will come to your home kitchen and show you the skills you need to be a confident and capable home cook! Take a look at our begginner's classes below!
Lesson 1 Knife Skills: Your chef's knife is your best friend! You'll use it every day, every time you cook. A good knife doesn't have to be expensive. We will review knives in detail to help you make the right choice. We will teach you the anatomy of a chef's knife and learn how to take care of it. Then, it's on to cutting vegetables. We will learn all the basic knife cuts - Julienne Cut, the Brunoise or Fine Dice, the Batonnet Cut and the Chiffonade Method.
Lesson 2 Eggs: All about the amazing egg! Eggs are essential material for home cooks like us. You can scramble them, poach them, fry them, or hard-boil them. This lesson covers multiple techniques: poached, fried, sunny side up, omelette and the perfect hard-boiled egg!
Lesson 3 Poultry: Let's deep-dive into poultry, primarily chicken. This lean, inexpensive meat is the most popular animal protein in America, beating out beef for the first time in 2012. Preparing chicken, whether it's a whole bird or just a breast or two, is an important skill for any cook to know by heart. We will learn how to cut up a whole chicken, learn proper cooking temperature for chicken and much more!
Lesson 4 Salads and Dressings: I'll teach you how to make a vinaigrette and how to make your own mayonnaise! We'll round out the lesson by preparing a dinner salad (and we'll practice more knife skills)!

Lesson 5 Rice and Grains: Knowing how to cook a good pot of rice is another cornerstone of our home cooking. Once you have that mastered, you'll always have a quick side dish or the beginnings of a meal in your back pocket. You will learn to build your skills and make risotto, rice pilafs and other grain dishes.
